Start with the disclosure, because it should color how you read everything below it. This comparison was written by KY Registered Agent.org, and the company we ranked first is us. We sell the very service being reviewed here, at $99 per year, so weigh our opinions the way you would weigh any seller's. The prices themselves ask for no trust at all: every competitor figure on this page reflects the vendor's own advertised rate as of our July 2026 check, and one of those figures is lower than ours.

A note on shelf life: those are advertised rates from a July 2026 verification pass. Registered agent companies adjust their pricing quietly and without much notice, so before you hand a card number to anyone on this sheet, us included, open that vendor's current pricing page and make sure the figure still holds.
The Case for Our Own First Place
Since we assigned ourselves the top row, the least we owe you is our work shown in full. When a process server delivers a summons to our Kentucky registered office, that document gets scanned and posted to your online portal the same business day, with an email alert, because your window to respond opened the moment the papers changed hands. Our renewal price matches our first-year price: $99, so the rate you agree to today is the rate you will see in year five. Our checkout sells exactly one thing, with no tiers to compare and no bundled extras to wave off. Your public Kentucky filings carry our street address instead of your home address. And the single fee beyond the annual charge is printed where you can see it before you buy: $15 per item to have regular business correspondence scanned alongside your legal documents.
Now for the claim we are careful not to make. Going strictly by advertised price, the cheapest registered agent service in Kentucky is BetterLegal at $90 per year, and you can find it two rows below us in our own table. What we offer instead sits among the lowest flat annual prices you will find for this work, with same-day scanning already inside the number and a renewal that never drifts upward. In a state that keeps its own filing fees this low, competing on a small, steady number felt like the right fit.
How the Other Eight Compare
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order Here2. Northwest Registered Agent
Northwest is the strongest competitor on this sheet, and we want to be plain about that. The company publishes its entire price structure: agent service costs nothing in year one when it rides along with a formation order, renews at $125 per year while you maintain one to four state registrations, and falls to $100 apiece once a fifth state joins the list. Actual people answer its phones, and its privacy practices have earned real respect across this industry. The distance between Northwest and the top row is financial and nothing else. Kentucky defines the registered agent job identically for their office and ours, and theirs invoices more for it every single year.
3. BetterLegal
BetterLegal advertises the lowest figure on the sheet, $90 per year, and still lands third in our ordering. Here is the reasoning. Our July 2026 review confirmed the renewal rate but could not establish how the first year gets billed, and we place a price we verified completely above a price we could only verify partly. If keeping the extra nine dollars a year matters to you, BetterLegal is a defensible pick. We would simply read the order page slowly on the way to the buy button.
4. Rocket Lawyer
Rocket Lawyer charges $125 per year for the agent role, and to its credit that number stays the same at every membership level, with no introductory rate waiting to expire on you. The complication is what comes attached. The agent service lives inside a larger legal subscription built on document templates and attorney consultations, so the value depends on whether your business actually reaches for those tools. If all you need is the statutory appointment, a slice of your $125 pays for software you may never open.
5. ZenBusiness
ZenBusiness has built the most polished customer platform in this group and priced it in two stages: a standalone first year of $99 plus state fees, followed by $199 per year at each renewal. The honest way to evaluate the service is at $199, because that is what each year you actually keep it will cost. Whether the platform justifies paying roughly double the flat-rate alternatives is a judgment call, but it should be made with the renewal figure in front of you rather than the first-year one.
6. Bizee (formerly Incfile)
Bizee, which used to operate as Incfile, includes agent service free with its LLC formation packages for a stretch of three to twelve months, with the length set by the package you choose. If you were forming a Kentucky LLC anyway, that is genuine value. Once the included period runs out, the standalone rate of $149 per year begins on its own. Write the end date into your own calendar on the day you purchase, because counting on a courtesy warning from Bizee is not a plan.
7. LegalZoom
LegalZoom prices the agent role at $249 per year, auto-renewing, and our check turned up no first-year discount to soften it. That is the highest flat rate on this sheet, attached to the most recognizable name in consumer legal services. Familiarity is worth something to plenty of owners, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is still worth remembering that the task underneath, accepting documents at a Kentucky street address during business hours, is performed to the same legal standard at every price in the table.
8. Swyft Filings
Swyft Filings bills $149 per quarter, which multiplies out to roughly $596 per year, the largest annual outlay in this comparison, and no distinct first-year discount surfaced in our review. Nothing we found suggests the underlying service is deficient. The billing format is our objection. A quarterly charge keeps the full-year total from ever appearing on a single screen, so run the multiplication yourself before the checkout flow runs it past you.
9. Inc Authority
Inc Authority gives away the first year and declines to say what any later year costs. During our July 2026 review we searched its homepage, its FAQ, and its premium package pages for a renewal price and came up empty; the number is genuinely unpublished, which suggests it first appears at checkout or on a sales call. In a comparison built from published prices, an unpublished one has to finish last. If the renewal rate were a selling point, you would not need to ask for it.
Switching Registered Agents in Kentucky Costs $10 (and That Keeps Everyone Honest)
Kentucky prices its business filings lower than almost any state in the country. Forming an LLC means filing Articles of Organization, form KLC, for $40, among the lowest formation fees anywhere in the United States. The annual report runs $15. And replacing your registered agent takes one document, the Statement of Change of Registered Agent and Office, form RAC, with a $10 fee, filed with the Kentucky Secretary of State by mail or through the state's FastTrack online system. Notice the naming convention while you are at it: Kentucky labels its filings with letter codes such as KLC and RAC rather than numbered forms.
Ten dollars is not free, but it is close enough to strip the lock-in out of this market. If the agent you pick from this sheet disappoints you, next year's correction costs less than lunch, and our change-agent walkthrough covers the RAC filing step by step. That pressure points at us as much as anyone. A $10 exit means our renewal has to be earned each year, never assumed.
Understanding Kentucky's $15 Annual Report, and the Change You Cannot Make on It
Kentucky skips the anniversary-date arithmetic most states use. Every entity files its annual report in the same window, January 1 through June 30, every year, for a flat $15. The state even does most of the filling in for you: the report arrives as a pre-populated, postcard-style confirmation of what is already on record, and an online filing through FastTrack processes immediately.
Miss June 30, though, and the aftermath follows a fixed timetable. Your entity drops into bad standing on July 1, the state mails out a 60-Day Notice, and if the report still has not arrived by roughly August 31, the Secretary of State administratively dissolves the company under KRS 14A.6-010. Losing a company over a fifteen-dollar postcard would be a hard story to tell.
One catch deserves its own paragraph, because the we-file-your-annual-report pitches from national vendors tend to skate right past it. You cannot change your registered agent on the Kentucky annual report. The report only confirms the agent already on file; an actual switch requires the separate RAC form and its $10 fee, and a principal office change works the same way on form POC. In Kentucky, an agent change and an annual report are always two distinct filings, no matter who does the paperwork. One budgeting footnote while we are here: most Kentucky LLCs also owe the state's Limited Liability Entity Tax, which starts at $175, so the $15 report is not the whole compliance bill.
What KRS 14A.4-010 Requires of a Kentucky Registered Agent
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereKentucky's registered agent statute is KRS 14A.4-010, and its terms are specific. The agent must be either an individual who resides in Kentucky or a business entity qualified to transact business in the state, and in both cases the agent's business address must be identical to the registered office, which has to be a physical Kentucky address rather than a PO box. The statute also rules out surprise appointments: the agent has to consent, either by signing the document that names them or by delivering a written acceptance to the state. Every service on this sheet clears those requirements, ours included. What you are actually shopping for is speed, pricing honesty, and how the invoice reads in year three.
Choosing from the Sheet
All nine services satisfy Kentucky law, so this decision comes down to money and behavior rather than eligibility. If brand familiarity is the thing you want, LegalZoom sells the most familiar one for $249. If the lowest sticker settles it automatically, BetterLegal's $90 is real, first-year uncertainty and all. Our own offer is deliberately unexciting: $99 that repeats itself on every renewal receipt, documents scanned the day they reach our Kentucky office, our address standing in for yours on the public record, and a reminder before each June 30 window closes. And because Kentucky prices the exit at $10, staying with us will always be a fresh decision rather than a habit. We think that arrangement favors whoever does the job best, which is exactly why we like it.
